And the Academy Award goes to…

The best part about this lesson was the Oscars, of course! So, let me know rewind to the beginning. So as required, we HAD to read The Odyssey. I don’t want to yuck your yum, but it’s not one of my favorites. My students were expected to: Present an oral interpretation of a passage or scene that features rich language. We did this through a film project where students recreated a scene (Book in the Odyssey). You can find that lesson here. They developed screenplays then acted and directed in them. In addition to their interpretation grade, I decided to sweeten the deal with an Academy Awards ceremony where they’re classmates selected Best Act/Actress, Director, Producer, Cinematographer, and Film Editor while I selected the best screenplay writer.
